Microsoft is starting to give you that choice with a major update to Copilot.

Until now, Copilot has been great for quick tasks like summarizing text, drafting emails, or answering questions. But it has never held on to much about you. Each new session felt like starting from scratch, which limited how personal or efficient it could be.

That is beginning to change.

Microsoft is introducing new memory controls that let you decide what Copilot keeps. You will be able to tell it to remember something, and soon you will have a full memory management page where you can view, edit, or delete those details whenever you want.

This means Copilot can build helpful context about you and your business, while you stay fully in charge of what it learns.

Why does this matter?

Imagine Copilot remembering how your team structures reports, the names of your key clients, or the formatting you prefer for proposals. Instead of repeating the same instructions, you can get straight to the work that matters. And if anything changes, you can update or clear that memory instantly.

There is another useful addition arriving soon: Connectors.

Copilot already works with OneDrive, but it will soon support Google Drive as well. That will let you ask Copilot to pull documents, summarize entire folders, or surface insights without opening each file manually. More integrations are expected over time, giving businesses a simpler, more connected way to use their information.

These updates are rolling out across the web, Windows 11, and mobile, with some features likely included for free and others potentially part of Copilot's paid tier.

The direction is clear. Copilot is becoming a smarter, more personal assistant that adapts to you while keeping you in control.
